English Translation
All praise belongs to Allah, who created the heavens and the earth and brought into being the darkness and the light (1). Even so, the disbelievers who cover up the truths that come from Allah set others up as equal to their Lord (2).
It is Allah who created you from clay and then appointed a term/span. There is a term/span set with Him. Yet you still waver in doubt about the resurrection.

English Translation
For He is Allah in the heavens and on the earth. He knows what you keep secret and what you disclose. Moreover, He knows what you will earn.
Whenever any verse from among their Lord's verses comes to them, the only thing they do is turn away from it.
Now the Quran, the evidence of the truth, has come to them, but they at once clung to lies in the face of it. Soon the news of the truths they kept making light of and mocking will reach them.
Have they not seen how many generations We destroyed before them? We had settled them in fertile lands such as We have not given you, sent down abundant, blessed rain upon them from the sky, and made rivers flow beneath their feet. Yet We destroyed them for their sins and brought other generations into being after them.

And among them are some who seem to listen to you. Even if they saw every kind of sign, they would not believe in Our verses, because they have closed their hearts to knowledge and do not want to hear with their ears. And to argue with you, they say: "This is nothing but the legends of the ancients."
They both keep others away from the Quran and deprive themselves of it. In the end they destroy themselves without realizing it.
If only you could see their state when they are made to stand before the Fire and say: "Ah, if only we could be sent back to the world, and not cling to lies in the face of our Lord's verses, and be among the believers!"
No—it is only that the truth formerly hidden from them has now come out. Were they sent back to the world, they would return to what they had been forbidden. For they are truly liars.
For they used to say: "There is nothing but this life of ours in this world; there is no other life. Nor will we be raised again."
If only you could see the moment when they are made to stand before their Lord, and Allah says to them: "Is this not the truth, then?" and they say: "By our Lord, it truly is!" and (Allah) says: "Then taste the punishment for covering up the truths!"

We certainly know that what they say grieves you. Yet it is not you they are calling a liar; in truth, those wrongdoers who persist in error knowingly refuse to believe in Allah's verses, even though they know this Quran is the truth.
Do not forget that the messengers before you were also accused of lying. They were patient until Our help came. For there is no power that can change Allah's words in which He has written that He will help. And surely some of the news of these messengers has come to you.

English Translation
Say: "If the punishment you want to come quickly were in my hands, the matter between you and me would already have been settled. But Allah knows best who the wrongdoers deserving punishment are."
For the keys of the unseen/the unknown are with Him alone. No one knows them but He. He knows all that happens on land and at sea. Not even a falling leaf is outside His knowledge; and every seed in the depths of the earth, everything moist or dry, is present in a clear book/law.
It is He who causes you to die/takes away your consciousness by night and knows what you do by day. Then He raises you to life again each morning/restores your consciousness to you, so that you may live out the appointed term. In the end your return is to Him, and then He will inform you, one by one, of what you have done.

This is Our system of proof that We gave Abraham to use against his people. For We raise to high ranks whomever We choose. Your Lord surely does everything in its proper place and knows all things.
We granted Isaac and Jacob to Abraham, and We guided each of them to the right path. Before that, We had guided Noah, and from his descendants David, Solomon, Job, Joseph, Moses, and Aaron. This is how We reward those who do good.
Zechariah, John (Yahya), Jesus, and Elijah (Ilyas)—all of them were among the good and virtuous.
Ishmael, Elisha (al-Yasa'), Jonah, and Lot—each of them We favored above the peoples among whom they lived.
And from among their forefathers, their children, and their brothers, We chose some and guided them to the right path.
This is Allah's guidance, by which He leads to the right path whoever among His servants deserves it. Had they associated partners with Allah, all that they had done would surely have come to nothing.
These are the ones to whom We gave the Book, wisdom, and prophethood. If these people do not believe in this revelation, We will entrust it to another people who will believe in it.

Devils, seen and unseen, who whisper to one another gilded, beguiling words to deceive people, have thereby become enemies to every prophet. Had your Lord not granted them the right to choose, they could not have done even that. So keep away from them and their invented religion!
Their aim is to make the hearts of those who do not believe in the Hereafter incline to those words and be pleased with them, so that they may go on committing the sins they commit.
When Allah has sent down to you the Book in detail, (1) am I now to seek a judge other than Allah? (2) Those to whom We gave the Book know well that this Quran has been sent down by your Lord as the truth/reality itself. (3) So never be among those who doubt! (4)

(1) But, as it turns out, what they do is made to look good to the disbelievers who cover up the truth.(2)
And thus in every land its sinful leading men come to power through intrigue; but the tricks and traps they set rebound on themselves, and they do not realize it.

Had Allah not granted them the right to choose, they could not have done this. So leave them alone with their invented beliefs.
And according to their false beliefs they say: "These animals and crops are sacred/untouchable; no one may eat of them except whom we wish. And these animals may not be ridden or loaded." And there are certain animals over which they do not mention Allah's name, slandering Allah. When the time comes, Allah will punish them for what they invent.

English Translation
Are they now waiting for angels to come to them, or for your Lord Himself to come, or for some of your Lord's signs of punishment and death to come? On the day your Lord's sign of punishment comes, the faith of anyone who did not believe before, or did not produce some good through his faith, will be of no benefit to him. Say: "Wait, then; we too are waiting!"
