بِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّح۪يمِ
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most MercifulVerse 189
1 verseAl-Baqarah 189
يَسْـَٔلُونَكَ عَنِ الْاَهِلَّةِۜ قُلْ هِيَ مَوَاق۪يتُ لِلنَّاسِ وَالْحَجِّۜ وَلَيْسَ الْبِرُّ بِاَنْ تَاْتُوا الْبُيُوتَ مِنْ ظُهُورِهَا وَلٰكِنَّ الْبِرَّ مَنِ اتَّقٰىۚ وَاْتُوا الْبُيُوتَ مِنْ اَبْوَابِهَاۖ وَاتَّقُوا اللّٰهَ لَعَلَّكُمْ تُفْلِحُونَ ١٨٩
Mushaf
Transliteration
189Yesʾelûneke ʿani-lʾehilleh. ḳul hiye mevâḳîtü linnâsi velḥacc. veleyse-lbirru bien teʾtü-lbüyûte min żuhûrihâ velâkinne-lbirra meni-tteḳâ. veʾtü-lbüyûte min ebvâbihâ. vetteḳu-llâhe leʿalleküm tüfliḥûn.
English Translation
189They ask you about the phases of the crescent moon. Say: "They are measures of time for people and for the hajj." It is not piety to enter houses from the back. True piety is for a person to guard himself against defying Allah. Enter houses through their doors. Act responsibly toward Allah, so that you may attain salvation.
