بِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّح۪يمِ
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most MercifulVerse 259
1 verseAl-Baqarah 259
اَوْ كَالَّذ۪ي مَرَّ عَلٰى قَرْيَةٍ وَهِيَ خَاوِيَةٌ عَلٰى عُرُوشِهَاۚ قَالَ اَنّٰى يُحْي۪ هٰذِهِ اللّٰهُ بَعْدَ مَوْتِهَاۚ فَاَمَاتَهُ اللّٰهُ مِائَةَ عَامٍ ثُمَّ بَعَثَهُۜ قَالَ كَمْ لَبِثْتَۜ قَالَ لَبِثْتُ يَوْمًا اَوْ بَعْضَ يَوْمٍۜ قَالَ بَلْ لَبِثْتَ مِائَةَ عَامٍ فَانْظُرْ اِلٰى طَعَامِكَ وَشَرَابِكَ لَمْ يَتَسَنَّهْۚ وَانْظُرْ اِلٰى حِمَارِكَ وَلِنَجْعَلَكَ اٰيَةً لِلنَّاسِ وَانْظُرْ اِلَى الْعِظَامِ كَيْفَ نُنْشِزُهَا ثُمَّ نَكْسُوهَا لَحْمًاۜ فَلَمَّا تَبَيَّنَ لَهُۙ قَالَ اَعْلَمُ اَنَّ اللّٰهَ عَلٰى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَد۪يرٌ ٢٥٩
Mushaf
Transliteration
259Ev kelleẕî merra ʿalâ ḳaryetiv vehiye ḫâviyetün ʿalâ ʿurûşihâ. ḳâle ennâ yuḥyî hâẕihi-llâhü baʿde mevtihâ. feemâtehü-llâhü miete ʿâmin ŝümme beʿaŝeh. ḳâle kem lebiŝt. ḳâle lebiŝtü yevmen ev baʿḍa yevm. ḳâle bel lebiŝte miete ʿâmin fenżur ilâ ṭaʿâmike veşerâbike lem yetesenneh. venżur ilâ ḥimârike velinecʿaleke âyetel linnâsi venżur ile-lʿiżâmi keyfe nünşizühâ ŝümme neksûhâ laḥmâ. felemmâ tebeyyene lehû ḳâle aʿlemü enne-llâhe ʿalâ külli şeyʾin ḳadîr.
English Translation
259Or like the one who passed by a desolate town lying in ruins and said, "How will Allah bring this place back to life after its death?" Thereupon Allah left him dead for a hundred years, then brought him back to life. He asked him, "How long have you remained?" He said, "I have remained a day, or part of a day." "No, you have remained a hundred years. Now look at your food and your drink—they have not yet spoiled. And look at your donkey—this is so that We may make you a lesson for people. And look at the bones, how We bring them together and then clothe them with flesh." When all this had become clear to him, he said, "Now I know that Allah has power over all things."
