بِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّح۪يمِ
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most MercifulVerses 283–284
2 versesAl-Baqarah 283
وَاِنْ كُنْتُمْ عَلٰى سَفَرٍ وَلَمْ تَجِدُوا كَاتِبًا فَرِهَانٌ مَقْبُوضَةٌۜ فَاِنْ اَمِنَ بَعْضُكُمْ بَعْضًا فَلْيُؤَدِّ الَّذِي اؤْتُمِنَ اَمَانَتَهُ وَلْيَتَّقِ اللّٰهَ رَبَّهُۜ وَلَا تَكْتُمُوا الشَّهَادَةَۜ وَمَنْ يَكْتُمْهَا فَاِنَّهُٓ اٰثِمٌ قَلْبُهُۜ وَاللّٰهُ بِمَا تَعْمَلُونَ عَل۪يمٌ۟ ٢٨٣
Mushaf
Transliteration
283Vein küntüm ʿalâ seferiv velem tecidû kâtiben ferihânüm maḳbûḍah. fein emine baʿḍuküm baʿḍan felyüeddi-lleẕi-ʾtümine emânetehû velyetteḳi-llâhe rabbeh. velâ tektümü-şşehâdet. vemey yektümhâ feinnehû âŝimün ḳalbüh. vellâhü bimâ taʿmelûne ʿalîm.
English Translation
283If you are on a journey and cannot find a scribe, a pledge taken in hand is sufficient. If you trust one another, let the one who is trusted deliver what has been entrusted to him, and let him fear Allah. Do not conceal testimony. Whoever conceals it has a sinful heart. Allah knows what you do.
