بِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّح۪يمِ
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most MercifulVerse 61
1 verseAl-Baqarah 61
وَاِذْ قُلْتُمْ يَا مُوسٰى لَنْ نَصْبِرَ عَلٰى طَعَامٍ وَاحِدٍ فَادْعُ لَنَا رَبَّكَ يُخْرِجْ لَنَا مِمَّا تُنْبِتُ الْاَرْضُ مِنْ بَقْلِهَا وَقِثَّٓائِهَا وَفُومِهَا وَعَدَسِهَا وَبَصَلِهَاۜ قَالَ اَتَسْتَبْدِلُونَ الَّذ۪ي هُوَ اَدْنٰى بِالَّذ۪ي هُوَ خَيْرٌۜ اِهْبِطُوا مِصْرًا فَاِنَّ لَكُمْ مَا سَاَلْتُمْۜ وَضُرِبَتْ عَلَيْهِمُ الذِّلَّةُ وَالْمَسْكَنَةُ وَبَٓاؤُ۫ بِغَضَبٍ مِنَ اللّٰهِۜ ذٰلِكَ بِاَنَّهُمْ كَانُوا يَكْفُرُونَ بِاٰيَاتِ اللّٰهِ وَيَقْتُلُونَ النَّبِيّ۪نَ بِغَيْرِ الْحَقِّۜ ذٰلِكَ بِمَا عَصَوْا وَكَانُوا يَعْتَدُونَ۟ ٦١
Mushaf
Transliteration
61Veiẕ ḳultüm yâ mûsâ len naṣbira ʿalâ ṭaʿâmiv vâḥidin fedʿu lenâ rabbeke yuḫric lenâ mimmâ tümbitü-lʾarḍu mim baḳlihâ veḳiŝŝâihâ vefûmihâ veʿadesihâ vebeṣalihâ. ḳâle etestebdilûne-lleẕî hüve ednâ billeẕî hüve ḫayr. ihbiṭû miṣran feinne leküm mâ seeltüm. veḍuribet ʿaleyhimü-ẕẕilletü velmeskenetü vebâû bigaḍabim mine-llâh. ẕâlike biennehüm kânû yekfürûne biâyâti-llâhi veyaḳtülûne-nnebiyyîne bigayri-lḥaḳḳ. ẕâlike bimâ ʿaṣav vekânû yaʿtedûn.
English Translation
61And when you said, "O Moses, we cannot endure one kind of food. So pray to your Lord for us to bring forth for us what the earth grows: vegetables, cucumbers, garlic, lentils, and onions," Moses said, "Would you exchange freedom, which is better, for onions and garlic, which are lesser? Go down to the city; there you will find what you want." And they were stamped with humiliation and poverty, and they incurred Allah's wrath. This was because they disbelieved in Allah's verses and unjustly killed their prophets. This was because they rebelled and transgressed the limits.
