بِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّح۪يمِ
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most MercifulVerses 246–248
3 versesAl-Baqarah 247
وَقَالَ لَهُمْ نَبِيُّهُمْ اِنَّ اللّٰهَ قَدْ بَعَثَ لَكُمْ طَالُوتَ مَلِكًاۜ قَالُٓوا اَنّٰى يَكُونُ لَهُ الْمُلْكُ عَلَيْنَا وَنَحْنُ اَحَقُّ بِالْمُلْكِ مِنْهُ وَلَمْ يُؤْتَ سَعَةً مِنَ الْمَالِۜ قَالَ اِنَّ اللّٰهَ اصْطَفٰيهُ عَلَيْكُمْ وَزَادَهُ بَسْطَةً فِي الْعِلْمِ وَالْجِسْمِۜ وَاللّٰهُ يُؤْت۪ي مُلْكَهُ مَنْ يَشَٓاءُۜ وَاللّٰهُ وَاسِعٌ عَل۪يمٌ ٢٤٧
Mushaf
Transliteration
247Veḳâle lehüm nebiyyühüm inne-llâhe ḳad beʿaŝe leküm ṭâlûte melikâ. ḳâlû ennâ yekûnü lehü-lmülkü ʿaleynâ venaḥnü eḥaḳḳu bilmülki minhü velem yüʾte seʿatem mine-lmâl. ḳâle inne-llâhe-ṣṭafâhü ʿaleyküm vezâdehû besṭaten fi-lʿilmi velcism. vellâhü yüʾtî mülkehû mey yeşâʾ. vellâhü vâsiʿun ʿalîm.
English Translation
247Their prophet said to them, "Allah has sent you Talut (Saul) as king." They said, "How can he be king over us? We are more worthy of kingship than he is, and besides, he has not been given abundant wealth." Their prophet said, "Allah has chosen him for you, because He has made him superior to you in knowledge and in physique. Allah gives His dominion to whomever He wills. Allah's bounty is vast, and He knows all things."
