بِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّح۪يمِ
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most MercifulVerse 228
1 verseAl-Baqarah 228
وَالْمُطَلَّقَاتُ يَتَرَبَّصْنَ بِاَنْفُسِهِنَّ ثَلٰثَةَ قُرُٓوءٍۜ وَلَا يَحِلُّ لَهُنَّ اَنْ يَكْتُمْنَ مَا خَلَقَ اللّٰهُ ف۪ٓي اَرْحَامِهِنَّ اِنْ كُنَّ يُؤْمِنَّ بِاللّٰهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الْاٰخِرِۜ وَبُعُولَتُهُنَّ اَحَقُّ بِرَدِّهِنَّ ف۪ي ذٰلِكَ اِنْ اَرَادُٓوا اِصْلَاحًاۜ وَلَهُنَّ مِثْلُ الَّذ۪ي عَلَيْهِنَّ بِالْمَعْرُوفِۖ وَلِلرِّجَالِ عَلَيْهِنَّ دَرَجَةٌۜ وَاللّٰهُ عَز۪يزٌ حَك۪يمٌ۟ ٢٢٨
Mushaf
Transliteration
228Velmüṭalleḳâtü yeterabbaṣne bienfüsihinne ŝelâŝete ḳurûʾ. velâ yeḥillü lehünne ey yektümne mâ ḫaleḳa-llâhü fî erḥâmihinne in künne yüʾminne billâhi velyevmi-lʾâḫir. vebüʿûletühünne eḥaḳḳu biraddihinne fî ẕâlike in erâdû iṣlâḥâ. velehünne miŝlü-lleẕî ʿaleyhinne bilmaʿrûf. velirricâli ʿaleyhinne deraceh. vellâhü ʿazîzün ḥakîm.
English Translation
228If women exercise their right of divorce, they are to wait by themselves for three menstrual periods. If they believe in Allah and the Last Day, it is not lawful for them to conceal what Allah has created in their wombs. If they wish to reconcile within this period, their husbands have a greater right to take them back. Women have rights over men, just as men have rights over women. Men have precedence over their wives. Allah is absolutely mighty and decides rightly in every judgment.
