بِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّح۪يمِ
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most MercifulVerse 221
1 verseAl-Baqarah 221
وَلَا تَنْكِحُوا الْمُشْرِكَاتِ حَتّٰى يُؤْمِنَّۜ وَلَاَمَةٌ مُؤْمِنَةٌ خَيْرٌ مِنْ مُشْرِكَةٍ وَلَوْ اَعْجَبَتْكُمْۚ وَلَا تُنْكِحُوا الْمُشْرِك۪ينَ حَتّٰى يُؤْمِنُواۜ وَلَعَبْدٌ مُؤْمِنٌ خَيْرٌ مِنْ مُشْرِكٍ وَلَوْ اَعْجَبَكُمْۜ اُو۬لٰٓئِكَ يَدْعُونَ اِلَى النَّارِۚ وَاللّٰهُ يَدْعُٓوا اِلَى الْجَنَّةِ وَالْمَغْفِرَةِ بِاِذْنِه۪ۚ وَيُبَيِّنُ اٰيَاتِه۪ لِلنَّاسِ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَتَذَكَّرُونَ۟ ٢٢١
Mushaf
Transliteration
221Velâ tenkiḥü-lmüşrikâti ḥattâ yüʾminn. veleemetüm müʾminetün ḫayrum mim müşriketiv velev aʿcebetküm. velâ tünkiḥü-lmüşrikîne ḥattâ yüʾminû. veleʿabdüm müʾminün ḫayrum mim müşrikiv velev aʿcebeküm. ülâike yedʿûne ile-nnâr. vellâhü yedʿû ile-lcenneti velmagfirati biiẕnih. veyübeyyinü âyâtihî linnâsi leʿallehüm yeteẕekkerûn.
English Translation
221Do not marry polytheist women until they believe. A believing slave woman is better than a polytheist woman, even if she pleases you. Do not marry believing women to polytheist men until they believe. A believing slave is better than a polytheist man, even if he pleases you. Those people invite you to the Fire, whereas Allah, by His permission, invites to Paradise and forgiveness, and He makes His verses clear to people so that they may reflect and take heed.
