An-Nisa 24

English Translation

24Married women are also forbidden to you, except those you lawfully possess. This is Allah's ruling, which He has made known to you. Beyond these, it is lawful for you to seek to marry women while adhering to the standards of chastity and honor, without entering into a relationship outside marriage, on condition that you give them their mahr from your property. As for the women from whom you benefit, give them their mahr in full, as an obligation. There is no sin on you in mutually agreeing, after the mahr has been set, on a different mahr. Surely Allah knows all things and decides rightly in His judgment.
