Do not show disrespect to Allah's religious symbols, to the inviolable sacred month, to the sacrificial offerings of the pilgrimage and the sacrificial animals marked with garlands, or to those who come to the Sacred House (al-Bayt al-Haram) seeking their Lord's bounty/to trade and to attain His good pleasure.(1) When you have left the state of ihram, you may hunt. Do not let your anger toward a people, because they once barred you from entering the Sacred Mosque (al-Masjid al-Haram), lead you into aggression against them.(3) Help one another in goodness and in guarding yourselves against evil; do not help one another in sin and hostility.(4) Fear Allah. Allah's punishment is very severe.

Forbidden to you are: the meat of dead animals (carrion), blood, the flesh of swine, what has been slaughtered in the name of anyone other than Allah, the strangled, the one beaten to death, the one killed by a fall, the one butted or gored to death, and what has been eaten by beasts of prey (except what you reach before it dies and slaughter according to the rule), animals slaughtered in the name of standing stones and things held sacred, and your seeking your lot by divining arrows. These are acts of straying from the religion.(1) Today the disbelievers have given up hope of your religion (of your turning back from it). So do not fear them; fear Me. Today I have perfected your religion for you, completed My blessing upon you, and approved Islam for you as your religion.(2) Whoever is forced by hunger, without inclining toward sin, (may eat of these animals). Allah is forgiving and merciful.

Today all that is clean and wholesome has been made lawful for you. The food of those who were given the Book is lawful for you, and your food is lawful for them. Whoever does not fulfill what his faith requires, his deeds will come to nothing, and in the Hereafter he will be among the losers.

Allah had long ago taken a firm covenant/pledge from the Children of Israel. We appointed twelve representatives from among them, and Allah said: "I am with you; if you perform the prayer properly, give the zakat (the obligatory alms), believe in My messengers and support them, and spend your wealth in His way for the good pleasure of Allah, I will certainly cover over your evil deeds and place you in gardens beneath which rivers flow. But whoever of you breaks this promise after this has strayed from the straight path."
And because they broke their covenant, hardened their hearts, twisted the meanings of words, and moreover forgot and failed to act upon part of the truths they had been reminded of, We cursed them. Except for a very few of them, you will always see treachery from them. Yet even so, be tolerant toward them and take no notice of them. Surely Allah loves those who are tolerant.

English Translation
The Jews and the Christians said: "We are the children of Allah and His beloved ones." Say: "Then why does Allah punish you for your sins?" No, you too are human beings whom Allah has created. Allah forgives those who deserve it and punishes those who deserve it. All authority over the heavens and the earth and all that is between them belongs to Allah. And in the end, the return is to Him.

So that you may not take refuge in the excuse, "There was a break in the line of messengers, and no bearer of good news and no warner came to us," here has come to you Our Messenger, making the truths clear to you: a warner and a bearer of good news. For Allah sets a measure for all things.

Recall when Moses said to his people: "O my people, remember the many blessings Allah has bestowed on you: how He raised up prophets from among you, made you kings, and gave you a blessing He had given to no one else among the nations."
"O my people, enter and settle in this holy land that Allah has ordained for you. Do not turn back and flee, or you will be overthrown and end up as losers."
They said: "O Moses, there is a tyrannical people there, too mighty to resist. We will not enter it unless they leave it. If they leave it, only then will we enter."
Two courageous men who believed in Allah, from among those who feared the enemy, said: "Attack them through the front gate and take hold of the city's main gate, for if you enter by it, you will surely prevail. Put your trust in Allah, if you are believers."
They said: "O Moses, as long as they are there, we will never enter it. Go, you and your Lord, and fight them. We shall sit right here."
Moses said: "My Lord, I have authority over no one but myself and my brother. So separate us from this people of transgressors who have strayed from the path."
Allah said to Moses: "They will be barred from entering that land for forty years; they will wander aimlessly and bewildered in the desert. Do not grieve for a people of transgressors who have strayed from the path!"

English Translation
And relate to them, with a true purpose, the story of the two sons of Adam. Recall when they each offered a sacrifice, and it was accepted from one of them and not from the other. (The one whose sacrifice was not accepted) said: "I will certainly kill you!" The other said: "Allah accepts only from those who act responsibly."
"Even if you set out to kill me, I will not attempt to kill you. For I fear Allah, the Lord of the worlds."
"I would rather you bore both the sin of killing me and your own sin, and so ended up in Hell! That is the punishment of the wrongdoers," he said.
In the end, overcome by envy, he killed him, and so became one of the losers.
Then Allah sent a crow scratching at the ground, to show him how to bury his brother's corpse. He said: "Woe is me! I have not even been able to do as much as this crow to bury my brother's body." And he became one of those filled with remorse.

For this reason We decreed for the Children of Israel: "Whoever takes a life, other than in return for a murder or for spreading discord and corruption on the earth, it is as though he has killed all mankind. And whoever saves or protects the life of a single human being, it is as though he has given life to all mankind." Indeed, Our messengers came to them with all the proofs of the truth, yet even after that many of them went on acting with insolence and excess on the earth.

The punishment of those who wage war against Allah and His Messenger, who conveys Allah's message, and who spread corruption in the land through terror and anarchy, is to be put to death, or to be stripped of all their rights and banished from their homes. That is their disgrace in this world alone. In the Hereafter a still greater punishment awaits them.
Excepted from this, however, are those who repent in remorse/turn back from their wrongdoing before you capture them. Know that in that case, Allah too is forgiving and merciful.

O Messenger, do not let yourself be grieved by those who vie with one another in disbelief: those who say with their mouths, "We believe," though their hearts do not believe, and the Jews who come to listen to you in order to spy for another people who do not come to you, and to fabricate lies in your name. They twist words by tearing them from their original context and distort their meaning, and they say: "If you are given this ruling (fatwa), take it; but if you are not given it, keep away from it." If Allah tests one who does not wish to purify his heart, there is nothing you can do. What they deserve is disgrace and humiliation in this world, and in the Hereafter a terrible punishment.
They are avid listeners to lies and greatly given to devouring what is unlawful (haram). If they come to you with a case, you may judge between them or decline to judge, as you wish! If you do not take up their case, they cannot harm you in any way. But if you do judge, judge between them with justice! For Allah loves those who establish justice.
How is it that they come to you for arbitration while they have the Torah, which contains Allah's ruling, in their hands, and then turn away from that ruling? Such people are not believers (even in their own book).

Without any doubt, it was We who sent down the Torah, containing guidance and light.(1) The prophets, who had submitted to Allah, judged the Jews by it;(2) and the scholars devoted to the Lord and the men of religion likewise judged by what was in Allah's Book. They are still witnesses to it. So do not fear people; fear Me alone.(3) Do not exchange My verses for a paltry price.(4) Those who do not judge by what Allah has sent down, it is they who are the disbelievers.(5)

Say: "O People of the Book! You have no worth at all until you put into practice the Torah, the Gospel, and the Quran, the final revelation sent down to you from your Lord."(1) Indeed, the Quran sent down to you from your Lord will surely increase many of them in insolence and denial.(2) So do not grieve for that people of disbelievers.(3)

Long ago We took a covenant/pledge from the Children of Israel and sent messengers to them. Whenever a messenger came to them with a message that did not suit their desires and whims, some they accused of lying, and some they killed.
Thinking that no calamity would befall them, they acted blind and deaf to the Divine warnings. Then Allah accepted their repentance. Yet afterwards many of them again acted blind and deaf to the Divine truths. And Allah sees full well what they do.

Those of the Children of Israel who disbelieved were cursed by the tongue of David and of Jesus son of Mary. That was because they rebelled and overstepped the limits.
For they would not try to turn one another away from the evil they committed. What vile things they used to do!
You see many of them taking the disbelievers as friends and allies. What evil things their own selves make them do! That is why they have incurred Allah's wrath, and they are condemned to punishment.
Had they believed in Allah, in the Prophet, and in the Quran sent down to you, they would not have taken them as friends and confidants. But most of them are transgressors who have strayed from the path.

You will find the Jews and those who associate partners with Allah to be the most intense of all people in hostility toward those who believe. And you will find the nearest in affection to those who believe to be those who say: "We are Nasara (helpers of Jesus in Allah's way)." That is because among them there are scholars and monks who are not arrogant (toward this message/the Quran).
When they hear the verses sent down to the Messenger, you see their eyes overflowing with tears because they recognize the truth. They say: "Our Lord, we believe; so record us among those who bear witness to the truth!"
"And why should we not believe in Allah and in the truth that has come to us, the Quran, when we long for our Lord to include us among His good servants?"
In return for these words of theirs, Allah has rewarded them with gardens beneath which rivers flow, where they will remain. That is the reward of those who do good.

Allah does not hold you responsible for oaths you swear thoughtlessly, but He does hold you responsible for oaths you swear deliberately. The expiation (kaffara) for breaking such an oath is to feed ten poor people with the average of what you feed your own families, or to clothe them, or to set a slave free. Whoever cannot afford to do these must fast for three days. This is the expiation for the oaths you break. So be true to your oaths. Thus does Allah explain His verses to you, so that you may be grateful.

Satan wants only to sow the seeds of enmity and hatred among you through intoxicating drink/whatever clouds the mind and gambling, and to hold you back from the remembrance of Allah, the Quran, and from the prayer. So now you will give them up, will you not?

English Translation
O you who believe! Allah will surely test you with game animals close enough to catch with your hands and your spears, in order to bring to light those who fear Him though they cannot see Him. Whoever oversteps the limits after this, there is a painful punishment for him.
O you who believe! Do not kill game while you are in the state of ihram. Whoever of you kills it knowing of this prohibition, his penalty is to bring to the Kaaba and sacrifice a domestic animal determined by two just persons among you; or to feed poor people to an equivalent amount; or to fast for an equivalent period, so that he may thus bear the penalty for the sin he has committed. Allah has pardoned what was done in the past. But whoever commits these offenses again, Allah will make him taste the bitter consequence of what he has done. For Allah is mighty and punishes those who deserve it.

English Translation
O you who believe! When death approaches one of you, take two honest people from among you as witnesses at the time of making a bequest. If you are on a journey and the signs of death have come upon you, call on two people not from among you to bear witness. If you doubt that they will act honestly, detain them after the prayer and have them swear as follows: "We swear by Allah that we will not sell our oath for any gain, even for the sake of a relative. We will not conceal, under any circumstances, what Allah knows. Otherwise we would be among the sinners."
If it comes to light that those two witnesses have lied, two people from the side of the one who has been wronged take their place and swear by Allah, saying: "Our testimony is truer than their testimony. For we have not deviated from truth and justice; otherwise we would be among the wrongdoers who violate others' rights."
This procedure ensures that witnesses either give their testimony truthfully, or refrain from false witness for fear that their oaths will be refuted by the oaths of others. So guard yourselves against defying Allah's commands, and listen to Him intently. For Allah does not let a people of transgressors who do not keep their word and have strayed from the path reach their goal.

On that day Allah will say: "O Jesus son of Mary! Reflect on My blessing upon you and your mother! I strengthened you with the Holy Spirit (Gabriel). You spoke to people both in the cradle and as a grown man. I taught you the Book and wisdom (understanding it and carrying it into life), and in particular the Torah and the Gospel. By My leave you made the figure of a bird out of clay, then breathed into it, and by My leave it became a bird and flew away. Again, by My leave you healed the blind and the lepers, and by My leave you brought the dead to life. Glory be to You. It does not befit me to say what I have no right to say. Had I said it, You would surely have known it. For You know me inside out, but I cannot know the mystery of Your being. Surely it is You, and You alone, who knows all that is hidden."

"If You punish them, they are Your servants. And if You forgive them, it is You who are absolutely supreme and exalted, and who puts everything in its proper place."

On that day Allah will say: "This is the day on which those who were true to their pledge of faith and obedience will see the good of their faithfulness. For them there are gardens beneath which rivers flow, where they will remain forever." Allah is well pleased with them, and they are well pleased with Allah. That is the magnificent salvation.
