بِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّح۪يمِ
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most MercifulVerses 5–8

مَثَلُ الَّذ۪ينَ حُمِّلُوا التَّوْرٰيةَ ثُمَّ لَمْ يَحْمِلُوهَا كَمَثَلِ الْحِمَارِ يَحْمِلُ اَسْفَارًاۜ بِئْسَ مَثَلُ الْقَوْمِ الَّذ۪ينَ كَذَّبُوا بِاٰيَاتِ اللّٰهِۜ وَاللّٰهُ لَا يَهْدِي الْقَوْمَ الظَّالِم۪ينَ ٥
Mushaf
Transliteration
5Meŝelü-lleẕîne ḥummilü-ttevrâte ŝümme lem yaḥmilûhâ kemeŝeli-lḥimâri yaḥmilü esfârâ. biʾse meŝelü-lḳavmi-lleẕîne keẕẕebû biâyâti-llâh. vellâhü lâ yehdi-lḳavme-żżâlimîn.
English Translation
5Those who were charged with understanding and applying the Torah, and then failed to fulfill that responsibility, are like a donkey laden with volumes of books. Truly lamentable is the state of a people who do not understand and apply Allah's verses. Allah does not let a people who do not understand and apply His verses attain their aims.
