بِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّح۪يمِ
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most MercifulVerse 1
1 verseAl-Mumtahanah 1
يَٓا اَيُّهَا الَّذ۪ينَ اٰمَنُوا لَا تَتَّخِذُوا عَدُوّ۪ي وَعَدُوَّكُمْ اَوْلِيَٓاءَ تُلْقُونَ اِلَيْهِمْ بِالْمَوَدَّةِ وَقَدْ كَفَرُوا بِمَا جَٓاءَكُمْ مِنَ الْحَقِّۚ يُخْرِجُونَ الرَّسُولَ وَاِيَّاكُمْ اَنْ تُؤْمِنُوا بِاللّٰهِ رَبِّكُمْۜ اِنْ كُنْتُمْ خَرَجْتُمْ جِهَادًا ف۪ي سَب۪يل۪ي وَابْتِغَٓاءَ مَرْضَات۪ي تُسِرُّونَ اِلَيْهِمْ بِالْمَوَدَّةِۗ وَاَنَا۬ اَعْلَمُ بِمَٓا اَخْفَيْتُمْ وَمَٓا اَعْلَنْتُمْۜ وَمَنْ يَفْعَلْهُ مِنْكُمْ فَقَدْ ضَلَّ سَوَٓاءَ السَّب۪يلِ ١
Mushaf
Transliteration
1Yâ eyyühe-lleẕîne âmenû lâ tetteḫiẕû ʿadüvvî veʿadüvveküm evliyâe tülḳûne ileyhim bilmeveddeti veḳad keferû bimâ câeküm mine-lḥaḳḳ. yuḫricûne-rrasûle veiyyâküm en tüʾminû billâhi rabbiküm. in küntüm ḫaractüm cihâden fî sebîlî vebtigâe merḍâtî tüsirrûne ileyhim bilmeveddeh. veenâ aʿlemü bimâ aḫfeytüm vemâ aʿlentüm. vemey yefʿalhü minküm feḳad ḍalle sevâe-ssebîl.
English Translation
1O you who believe, do not take those who are My enemies and your enemies as allies (awliya) and collaborate with them. Yet you go and pass private information to them because of ties of kinship, even though they persist in disbelieving in the Quran that has come to you. Moreover, they drove the Messenger and you out of your homeland simply because you believed in Allah, your Lord. Since you emigrated in My way to win My good pleasure, how can you pass your secrets on to them because of ties of kinship? Yet I know everything you conceal and everything you disclose. Whoever does this from now on, let him know well that he has strayed from the straight path.

اِنْ يَثْقَفُوكُمْ يَكُونُوا لَكُمْ اَعْدَٓاءً وَيَبْسُطُٓوا اِلَيْكُمْ اَيْدِيَهُمْ وَاَلْسِنَتَهُمْ بِالسُّٓوءِ وَوَدُّوا لَوْ تَكْفُرُونَۜ ٢
Mushaf
Transliteration
2İy yeŝḳafûküm yekûnû leküm aʿdâev veyebsüṭû ileyküm eydiyehüm veelsinetehüm bissûi veveddû lev tekfürûn.
English Translation
2If they were to gain the upper hand over you, they would spare no evil against you with their hands and their tongues; moreover, they would do everything to make you return to disbelief.

لَنْ تَنْفَعَكُمْ اَرْحَامُكُمْ وَلَٓا اَوْلَادُكُمْۚۛ يَوْمَ الْقِيٰمَةِۚۛ يَفْصِلُ بَيْنَكُمْۜ وَاللّٰهُ بِمَا تَعْمَلُونَ بَص۪يرٌ ٣
Mushaf
Transliteration
3Len tenfeʿaküm erḥâmüküm velâ evlâdüküm. yevme-lḳiyâmeh. yefṣilü beyneküm. vellâhü bimâ taʿmelûne beṣîr.
English Translation
3For on the Day of Resurrection neither your relatives nor your children will be of any use to you. And Allah will judge between you according to what you have done. For Allah sees all that you do.

قَدْ كَانَتْ لَكُمْ اُسْوَةٌ حَسَنَةٌ ف۪ٓي اِبْرٰه۪يمَ وَالَّذ۪ينَ مَعَهُۚ اِذْ قَالُوا لِقَوْمِهِمْ اِنَّا بُرَءٰٓؤُ۬ا مِنْكُمْ وَمِمَّا تَعْبُدُونَ مِنْ دُونِ اللّٰهِۘ كَفَرْنَا بِكُمْ وَبَدَا بَيْنَنَا وَبَيْنَكُمُ الْعَدَاوَةُ وَالْبَغْضَٓاءُ اَبَدًا حَتّٰى تُؤْمِنُوا بِاللّٰهِ وَحْدَهُٓ اِلَّا قَوْلَ اِبْرٰه۪يمَ لِاَب۪يهِ لَاَسْتَغْفِرَنَّ لَكَ وَمَٓا اَمْلِكُ لَكَ مِنَ اللّٰهِ مِنْ شَيْءٍۜ رَبَّنَا عَلَيْكَ تَوَكَّلْنَا وَاِلَيْكَ اَنَبْنَا وَاِلَيْكَ الْمَص۪يرُ ٤ رَبَّنَا لَا تَجْعَلْنَا فِتْنَةً لِلَّذ۪ينَ كَفَرُوا وَاغْفِرْ لَنَا رَبَّنَاۚ اِنَّكَ اَنْتَ الْعَز۪يزُ الْحَك۪يمُ ٥
Mushaf
Transliteration
4Ḳad kânet leküm üsvetün ḥasenetün fî ibrâhîme velleẕîne meʿah. iẕ ḳâlû liḳavmihim innâ büraâü minküm vemimmâ taʿbüdûne min dûni-llâh. kefernâ biküm vebedâ beynenâ vebeynekümü-lʿadâvetü vebagḍâü ebeden ḥattâ tüʾminû billâhi vaḥdehû illâ ḳavle ibrâhîme liebîhi leestagfiranne leke vemâ emlikü leke mine-llâhi min şeyʾ. rabbenâ ʿaleyke tevekkelnâ veileyke enebnâ veileyke-lmeṣîr.
5Rabbenâ lâ tecʿalnâ fitnetel lilleẕîne keferû vagfir lenâ rabbenâ. inneke ente-lʿazîzü-lḥakîm.
English Translation
4Indeed, there is a fine example for you in this matter in Abraham and those with him. Apart from Abraham's saying to his father, 'I will ask Allah's forgiveness for you, but I cannot prevent the punishment that will come to you from Allah,' recall how they said to their people: "We have nothing to do with you or with those you place between yourselves and Allah and serve; we reject you, and the rancor, hatred, and enmity between us will continue until you believe in the one Allah alone and become believers. Our Lord, we trust in You alone and turn to You alone, for in the end the return is to You."
5"Our Lord, do not make us a plaything in the hands of the disbelievers; forgive us, our Lord! For You are the absolutely supreme One, who rules over all things!"

لَقَدْ كَانَ لَكُمْ ف۪يهِمْ اُسْوَةٌ حَسَنَةٌ لِمَنْ كَانَ يَرْجُوا اللّٰهَ وَالْيَوْمَ الْاٰخِرَۜ وَمَنْ يَتَوَلَّ فَاِنَّ اللّٰهَ هُوَ الْغَنِيُّ الْحَم۪يدُ۟ ٦
Mushaf
Transliteration
6Leḳad kâne leküm fîhim üsvetün ḥasenetül limen kâne yercü-llâhe velyevme-lʾâhir. vemey yetevelle feinne-llâhe hüve-lganiyyü-lḥamîd.
English Translation
6Yes, in Abraham and those who followed him there is a fine example for you, that is, for those who keep Allah and the Last Day in view. Allah is the One who needs no one's support and is worthy of all praise.

عَسَى اللّٰهُ اَنْ يَجْعَلَ بَيْنَكُمْ وَبَيْنَ الَّذ۪ينَ عَادَيْتُمْ مِنْهُمْ مَوَدَّةًۜ وَاللّٰهُ قَد۪يرٌۜ وَاللّٰهُ غَفُورٌ رَح۪يمٌ ٧
Mushaf
Transliteration
7Asa-llâhü ey yecʿale beyneküm vebeyne-lleẕîne ʿâdeytüm minhüm meveddeh. vellâhü ḳadîr. vellâhü gafûrur raḥîm.
English Translation
7A day may come when Allah brings about affection between you and those with whom you are now at enmity. For Allah sets a measure for all things, and Allah is matchless in forgiveness and an infinite source of mercy.

لَا يَنْهٰيكُمُ اللّٰهُ عَنِ الَّذ۪ينَ لَمْ يُقَاتِلُوكُمْ فِي الدّ۪ينِ وَلَمْ يُخْرِجُوكُمْ مِنْ دِيَارِكُمْ اَنْ تَبَرُّوهُمْ وَتُقْسِطُٓوا اِلَيْهِمْۜ اِنَّ اللّٰهَ يُحِبُّ الْمُقْسِط۪ينَ ٨ اِنَّمَا يَنْهٰيكُمُ اللّٰهُ عَنِ الَّذ۪ينَ قَاتَلُوكُمْ فِي الدّ۪ينِ وَاَخْرَجُوكُمْ مِنْ دِيَارِكُمْ وَظَاهَرُوا عَلٰٓى اِخْرَاجِكُمْ اَنْ تَوَلَّوْهُمْۚ وَمَنْ يَتَوَلَّهُمْ فَاُو۬لٰٓئِكَ هُمُ الظَّالِمُونَ ٩
Mushaf
Transliteration
8Lâ yenhâkümü-llâhü ʿani-lleẕîne lem yüḳâtilûküm fi-ddîni velem yuḫricûküm min diyâriküm en teberrûhüm vetuḳsiṭû ileyhim. inne-llâhe yüḥibbü-lmuḳsiṭîn.
9İnnemâ yenhâkümü-llâhü ʿani-lleẕîne ḳâtelûküm fi-ddîni veaḫracûküm min diyâriküm veżâherû ʿalâ iḫrâciküm en tevellevhüm. vemey yetevellehüm feülâike hümu-żżâlimûn.
English Translation
8However, Allah does not forbid you to establish good relations with, and to treat kindly, those who have not fought you because of religion and have not driven you out of your homes. For Allah loves those who act kindly.
9Allah forbids you only to take as friends those who have waged war on you because of religion, driven you out of your homes, and supported your expulsion. Whoever takes them as friends and joins with them, it is they who are the wrongdoers who persist in error.

يَٓا اَيُّهَا الَّذ۪ينَ اٰمَنُٓوا اِذَا جَٓاءَكُمُ الْمُؤْمِنَاتُ مُهَاجِرَاتٍ فَامْتَحِنُوهُنَّۜ اَللّٰهُ اَعْلَمُ بِا۪يمَانِهِنَّۚ فَاِنْ عَلِمْتُمُوهُنَّ مُؤْمِنَاتٍ فَلَا تَرْجِعُوهُنَّ اِلَى الْكُفَّارِۜ لَا هُنَّ حِلٌّ لَهُمْ وَلَا هُمْ يَحِلُّونَ لَهُنَّۜ وَاٰتُوهُمْ مَٓا اَنْفَقُواۜ وَلَا جُنَاحَ عَلَيْكُمْ اَنْ تَنْكِحُوهُنَّ اِذَٓا اٰتَيْتُمُوهُنَّ اُجُورَهُنَّۜ وَلَا تُمْسِكُوا بِعِصَمِ الْكَوَافِرِ وَسْـَٔلُوا مَٓا اَنْفَقْتُمْ وَلْيَسْـَٔلُوا مَٓا اَنْفَقُواۜ ذٰلِكُمْ حُكْمُ اللّٰهِۜ يَحْكُمُ بَيْنَكُمْۜ وَاللّٰهُ عَل۪يمٌ حَك۪يمٌ ١٠
Mushaf
Transliteration
10Yâ eyyühe-lleẕîne âmenû iẕâ câekümü-lmüʾminâtü mühâcirâtin femteḥinûhünn. allâhü aʿlemü biîmânihinn. fein ʿalimtümûhünne müʾminâtin felâ terciʿûhünne ile-lküffâr. lâ hünne ḥillül lehüm velâ hüm yeḥillûne lehünn. veâtûhüm mâ enfeḳû. velâ cünâḥa ʿaleyküm en tenkiḥûhünne iẕâ âteytümûhünne ücûrahünn. velâ tümsikû biʿiṣami-lkevâfiri vesʾelû mâ enfaḳtüm velyesʾelû mâ enfeḳû. ẕâliküm ḥukmü-llâh. yaḥkümü beyneküm. vellâhü ʿalîmün ḥakîm.
English Translation
10O you who believe! When believing women come to you as emigrants, put them through a test. Allah, however, knows best whether they truly believe or not. If you are satisfied that they are truly believers, do not send them back to the disbelievers. These women are no longer lawful for their disbelieving husbands, nor are those disbelievers lawful for them. Return to the disbelieving husbands the dowries (mahr) they gave them. There is no blame on you in marrying these women, provided you give them their dowries. And do not continue your marriages with disbelieving women. Ask the disbelieving husbands they have married for the dowries you gave them; and the husbands of the believing women who come to you may likewise ask you for the dowries they gave. This is Allah's judgment; He judges between you thus. For Allah's every judgment is right.

وَاِنْ فَاتَكُمْ شَيْءٌ مِنْ اَزْوَاجِكُمْ اِلَى الْكُفَّارِ فَعَاقَبْتُمْ فَاٰتُوا الَّذ۪ينَ ذَهَبَتْ اَزْوَاجُهُمْ مِثْلَ مَٓا اَنْفَقُواۜ وَاتَّقُوا اللّٰهَ الَّذ۪ٓي اَنْتُمْ بِه۪ مُؤْمِنُونَ ١١
Mushaf
Transliteration
11Vein fâteküm şeyʾüm min ezvâciküm ile-lküffâri feʿâḳabtüm feâtü-lleẕîne ẕehebet ezvâcühüm miŝle mâ enfeḳû. vetteḳu-llâhe-lleẕî entüm bihî müʾminûn.
English Translation
11If you are still owed something by your wives who have left the faith and fled to the disbelievers, and you then fight those disbelievers and gain spoils, give from those spoils to the believers whose wives fled to the disbelievers a share equal to the dowries they paid. And guard yourselves against defying Allah, in whom you believe and trust!

Transliteration
12Yâ eyyühe-nnebiyyü iẕâ câeke-lmüʾminâtü yübâyiʿneke ʿalâ el lâ yüşrikne billâhi şeyʾev velâ yesriḳne velâ yeznîne velâ yaḳtülne evlâdehünne velâ yeʾtîne bibühtâniy yefterînehû beyne eydîhinne veercülihinne velâ yaʿṣîneke fî maʿrûfin febâyiʿhünne vestagfir lehünne-llâh. inne-llâhe gafûrur raḥîm.
English Translation
12O Prophet! When believing women come to you wishing to pledge allegiance to you, pledging that they will not associate anything with Allah, will not steal, will not commit unlawful sexual intercourse, will not kill their children, will not bring forth illegitimate children and attribute them to their husbands, and will not disobey you in what is good and right, accept their pledge of allegiance and ask Allah's forgiveness for them! For Allah is matchless in forgiveness and an infinite source of mercy.

يَٓا اَيُّهَا الَّذ۪ينَ اٰمَنُوا لَا تَتَوَلَّوْا قَوْمًا غَضِبَ اللّٰهُ عَلَيْهِمْ قَدْ يَئِسُوا مِنَ الْاٰخِرَةِ كَمَا يَئِسَ الْكُفَّارُ مِنْ اَصْحَابِ الْقُبُورِ ١٣
Mushaf
Transliteration
13Yâ eyyühe-lleẕîne âmenû lâ tetevellev ḳavmen gaḍibe-llâhü ʿaleyhim ḳad yeisû mine-lʾâḫirati kemâ yeise-lküffâru min aṣḥâbi-lḳubûr.
English Translation
13O you who believe, do not join with those who have incurred Allah's wrath. For they have lost hope of the Hereafter, just as the disbelievers have lost hope that the dead lying in their graves will be raised again.
