English Translation
There is no doubt that We created the human being from clay, from a refined extract of mud.
Then We placed him as a sperm in a firm, well-protected place.
Then We attached the sperm, as a fertilized egg, to the wall of the womb; then We made it into a lump of flesh; then We formed bones from this lump of flesh. Then We clothed these bones with flesh, and at last We brought him into the world as an entirely new being. What a perfect Creator Allah is, the most exalted of all!
At last, when the time comes, you will all die.
And when the Day of Resurrection comes, you will be raised to life again.

Indeed, We have created above you countless planets/seven layers. We have not withdrawn Our care from anything We have created.
Within this order, We send down water from the sky according to a set decree/measure, and make it soak into the ground. Know well that We certainly have the power to take it away too and make the ground bone-dry.
And with rainwater We make date groves and vineyards grow green for you, in which there are many fruits for you, and from them you eat.
And with that rain We have also grown olive trees, which flourish around Mount Sinai and yield oil and relish for those who eat.

The disbelievers among the elite of his people said: —This is nothing but a human being like you. Clearly he wants to set himself above us. Had Allah wished to send a messenger, He would have sent angels. Besides, we have never heard of such a thing from our forefathers of old.

For We burden no one beyond his capacity, because with Us there is a record kept that speaks the truth; therefore they will not be wronged at all.
Yet their hearts are heedless of this truth; what is more, besides this they have certain evil deeds that they go on doing.
At last, when We seize with punishment their wealthy ones, spoiled by affluence, they at once raise a wail.
Do not wail in vain now, for no help will reach you from Us.

Turning up your noses at them in arrogance, you used to gather at night and spout ravings about My verses.

Have they, then, never reflected deeply on the Quran? Or has something new come to them that did not come to their forefathers of old?
Or do they not recognize the messenger who has come to them, and is that why they do not believe?
Or do they say, "He is someone inspired by jinn"? No! In fact he has brought them the truth. But most of them dislike this truth/the Quran.
Had the truth followed their desires and whims, the heavens, the earth, and all that is in them would have fallen into corruption, and the order of the universe would have broken down. In fact, We have brought them a Book that is a source of honor and esteem for them, but they turn away from this Quran.

Or are you asking them for some payment? Yet the payment your Lord will give is better than all worldly goods. For He is the best of providers.
Indeed, you are only calling them to the straight path.
But those who do not believe in the Hereafter persistently swerve from this path onto other paths.
Even if We had shown them mercy and removed the hardship that had befallen them, they would still have gone on floundering, blinded, in the swamp of insolence.
Indeed, We had punished them before, but they did not submit to their Lord or humbly implore Him.
At last, when We open upon them the gates of a severe punishment, they will lose all hope in bewilderment.

Our Lord, bring us out of here. If we ever return to our former ways, then we will truly be wrongdoers who deserve the punishment.
Allah will say: —Silence! Do not say a single word more to Me!
In the past a group of My servants used to pray: —Our Lord, we have believed wholeheartedly; so forgive us and have mercy on us, for You are the Most Merciful of the merciful!
But you used to mock them. So much so that this mocking attitude of yours made you forget My Reminder/the Quran, and you would just laugh at them.
Today I have rewarded them for their patience. It is they who have achieved true success.

English Translation
Allah will ask the people of Hell: —How many years did you stay in the world?
They will say: —A day or less; ask those who keep count, if You wish.
Allah will say: —Yes, you lived only a short while in the world; if only you had known this in time.
Did you think, then, that We created you in vain and without meaning, and that you would not be returned to Us?
Exalted indeed is Allah, besides whom there is no god, the true Owner of sovereignty, the Lord of the exalted Throne.
Whoever implores in prayer, alongside Allah, another god for which he has no proof will surely give account for it before his Lord; for those who turn away from the truths will never prosper.
