بِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّح۪يمِ

وَلِيَعْلَمَ الَّذ۪ينَ نَافَقُواۚ وَق۪يلَ لَهُمْ تَعَالَوْا قَاتِلُوا ف۪ي سَب۪يلِ اللّٰهِ اَوِ ادْفَعُواۜ قَالُوا لَوْ نَعْلَمُ قِتَالًا لَاتَّبَعْنَاكُمْۜ هُمْ لِلْكُفْرِ يَوْمَئِذٍ اَقْرَبُ مِنْهُمْ لِلْا۪يمَانِۚ يَقُولُونَ بِاَفْوَاهِهِمْ مَا لَيْسَ ف۪ي قُلُوبِهِمْۜ وَاللّٰهُ اَعْلَمُ بِمَا يَكْتُمُونَۚ ١٦٧
Mushaf
Transliteration
167Veliyaʿleme-lleẕîne nâfeḳû. veḳîle lehüm teʿâlev ḳâtilû fî sebîli-llâhi evi-dfeʿû. ḳâlû lev naʿlemü ḳitâlel lettebaʿnâküm. hüm lilküfri yevmeiẕin aḳrabü minhüm lilʾîmân. yeḳûlûne biefvâhihim mâ leyse fî ḳulûbihim. vellâhü aʿlemü bimâ yektümûn.
English Translation
167And so that the two-faced hypocrites might be made known—those who, when told, "Come, fight in Allah's way, or take your place on the line of defense," said, "Had we known how to fight, we would certainly have joined you." That day they were closer to disbelief than to faith. They say with their mouths what is not in their hearts, but Allah knows very well what they conceal.
