Are We now to stop warning you with the Quran just because you are an insolent people who overstep the limits?
For We sent many prophets as messengers to the peoples of old as well.
But those peoples mocked every prophet who came to them.
So We destroyed those peoples who were stronger than these, and the example of those of old has already been given in the verses.
Now if you ask them: —Who created the heavens and the earth? they will say: —Allah, possessed of supreme power and knowing all things, created them.

Or has He taken daughters for Himself from among the servants He created, and set aside sons for you?

They also claim that the angels, who are servants of the Most Merciful, are female. Did they witness the creation of the angels? These claims of theirs will be recorded, and they will be called to account for them.
They even go so far as to say: "Had the Most Merciful willed, we would never have served them." They have no knowledge of this; they are only talking nonsense.
Or did We give them a Book before this, and they are relying on it?
No, all they say is: —We found our forefathers following a traditional religion, and only by following in their footsteps can we find the right path.
Likewise, whenever We sent a warner to any town before you, its elite, spoiled by wealth, said just as these do: "We found our forefathers following a traditional religion, and of course we will follow in their footsteps."
When the messenger said: "What if I have brought you a religion more rightly guided than your forefathers'?" they disbelieved, saying: "We do not recognize what you have been sent with."
In the end We made them taste the bitter consequence of what they did. See, then, what the end of those who clung to lies in the face of the truth was!

English Translation
Indeed, We sent Moses with Our signs to Pharaoh and his inner circle, and he said to them: —I am a messenger of the Lord of the worlds.
When Moses showed them Our miracles/signs, they began to laugh mockingly at them.
We showed them miracles, each greater than the one before. And We seized them with Our punishment, so that perhaps they would turn back.
At every calamity they said: O sorcerer! For the sake of the covenant your Lord has made with you, pray to your Lord to lift this punishment from us. For from now on we will follow the way you show.
But when We lifted the punishment from them, they went back on their word.
And Pharaoh called out to his people: O my people, am I not the sole ruler of this land of Egypt, and are not these rivers flowing beneath my feet mine? Do you not see even this?
—Or am I not better than this wretched man who can scarcely make himself understood?
—If that is so, why have gold necklaces not been put around his neck and gold bracelets on his arms? Or why are there no angels accompanying him?
With these words Pharaoh belittled his people and beguiled their minds. And since they were a people inclined to stray from the path, they obeyed him.
At last, when they provoked Our wrath, We gave them the punishment they deserved and drowned them all.
Thus We made them a bitter memory of the past and a lesson for generations to come.
