143And when Moses came to the place We had appointed, at the time We had set, his Lord spoke to him. Moses said: —My Lord, show Yourself to me, so that I may look upon You! His Lord said: —You will never see Me; but look at that mountain: if it stays in its place, then you will see Me. When his Lord manifested Himself to the mountain, He leveled it to the ground, and Moses collapsed in a faint. When he came to, he said: —I declare You free of all imperfection/Your glory is most exalted; I repent of this request, and I am the first of those who have believed (that You cannot be seen) and become believers.
