بِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّح۪يمِ
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most MercifulVerses 77–78
2 versesAl-Hajj 78
وَجَاهِدُوا فِي اللّٰهِ حَقَّ جِهَادِه۪ۜ هُوَ اجْتَبٰيكُمْ وَمَا جَعَلَ عَلَيْكُمْ فِي الدّ۪ينِ مِنْ حَرَجٍۜ مِلَّةَ اَب۪يكُمْ اِبْرٰه۪يمَۜ هُوَ سَمّٰيكُمُ الْمُسْلِم۪ينَ مِنْ قَبْلُ وَف۪ي هٰذَا لِيَكُونَ الرَّسُولُ شَه۪يدًا عَلَيْكُمْ وَتَكُونُوا شُهَدَٓاءَ عَلَى النَّاسِۚ فَاَق۪يمُوا الصَّلٰوةَ وَاٰتُوا الزَّكٰوةَ وَاعْتَصِمُوا بِاللّٰهِۜ هُوَ مَوْلٰيكُمْۚ فَنِعْمَ الْمَوْلٰى وَنِعْمَ النَّص۪يرُ ٧٨
Mushaf
Transliteration
78Vecâhidû fi-llâhi ḥaḳḳa cihâdih. hüve-ctebâküm vemâ ceʿale ʿaleyküm fi-ddîni min ḥarac. millete ebîküm ibrâhîm. hüve semmâkümü-lmüslimîne min ḳablü vefî hâẕâ liyekûne-rrasûlü şehîden ʿaleyküm vetekûnû şühedâe ʿale-nnâs. feeḳîmu-ṣṣalâte veâtü-zzekâte vaʿteṣimû billâh. hüve mevlâküm. feniʿme-lmevlâ veniʿme-nneṣîr.
English Translation
78Strive in Allah's way as is worthy of Him. He has chosen you and has placed no hardship on you in religion. So follow the belief system of your forefather Abraham. For He named you simply "Muslims" in earlier times and in this Quran, so that the Messenger might be a witness, an example, and a model for you, and you might be witnesses, examples, and models for humankind. So perform the prayer, give zakat, and hold fast to Allah. For Allah is your Patron (Mawla). What an excellent Patron and what an excellent Helper He is!
