English Translation
18They will say: —Far be it from us, our Lord! We declare You free of all imperfection; You are far above any deficiency. It would not befit us to take anyone besides You as protectors and authorities. But You let them and their forefathers taste so many worldly pleasures that they grew insolent and forgot the reminder/the Quran, and in the end became a people who deserved destruction.
