عَبَسَ وَتَوَلّٰىۙ ١ اَنْ جَٓاءَهُ الْاَعْمٰىۜ ٢ وَمَا يُدْر۪يكَ لَعَلَّهُ يَزَّكّٰىۙ ٣ اَوْ يَذَّكَّرُ فَتَنْفَعَهُ الذِّكْرٰىۜ ٤ اَمَّا مَنِ اسْتَغْنٰىۙ ٥ فَاَنْتَ لَهُ تَصَدّٰىۜ ٦ وَمَا عَلَيْكَ اَلَّا يَزَّكّٰىۜ ٧ وَاَمَّا مَنْ جَٓاءَكَ يَسْعٰىۙ ٨ وَهُوَ يَخْشٰىۙ ٩ فَاَنْتَ عَنْهُ تَلَهّٰىۚ ١٠
Mushaf
Transliteration
1Abese vetevellâ.
2En câehü-lʾaʿmâ.
3Vemâ yüdrîke leʿallehû yezzekkâ.
4Ev yeẕẕekkeru fetenfeʿahü-ẕẕikrâ.
5Emmâ meni-stagnâ.
6Feente lehû teṣaddâ.
7Vemâ ʿaleyke ellâ yezzekkâ.
8Veemmâ men câeke yesʿâ.
9Vehüve yaḫşâ.
10Feente ʿanhü telehhâ.
English Translation
1He pulled a long face and turned away,
2because a man whose eyes could not see came to him.
3How would you know? Perhaps he would purify himself.
4Or he would take admonition from you and benefit from it.
5(5-6) But you went and showed favor to the one who felt no need for the admonition you gave.

7Yet you are not responsible if he does not purify himself.
8(8-9-10) But as for the one who came running to you, holding Allah in deep reverence, you paid him no attention at all.

English Translation
11Do not do so again, for this revelation is an admonition and a warning.
12Whoever wishes takes admonition from it.
13(13-16) This Quran is a message, contained in highly valued, highly exalted and spotlessly pure pages, sent down by the hands of respected and trustworthy messengers.

21Ŝümme emâtehû feaḳberah.
22Ŝümme iẕâ şâe enşerah.
English Translation
17May the human being perish—how ungrateful he is!
18Has he ever considered: why did Allah create him?
19He created him from a drop of water, then strengthened him with willpower.
20Then He made the way easy for him.
21Then He will cause him to die and put him in the grave.
22Then, when He wills, He will raise him to life again.

23Kellâ lemmâ yaḳḍi mâ emerah.
24Felyenżuri-lʾinsânü ilâ ṭaʿâmih.
25Ennâ ṣabebne-lmâe ṣabbâ.
26Ŝümme şaḳaḳne-lʾarḍa şeḳḳâ.
27Feembetnâ fîhâ ḥabbâ.
28Veʿinebev veḳaḍbâ.
29Vezeytûnev venaḫlâ.
30Veḥadâiḳa gulbâ.
31Vefâkihetev veebbâ.
32Metâʿal leküm velienʿâmiküm.
English Translation
23—No! Despite this truth, the human being has not fully carried out Allah's command.
24So let this human being look at where what he eats and drinks comes from.
25We poured down rain in abundance.
26And We split the earth open.
27And so, there, grain,
28grapes and vegetables,
29olives and date palms,
30gardens thick with lush trees,
31fruits and pastures—all these We caused to grow.
32We did all this so that you and your animals may benefit.

English Translation
33As for the day when that tremendous noise that deafens the ears breaks out,
34on that day a person will flee from his brother,
35from his mother and his father,
36from his spouse and his children.
37For on that day everyone will be caught up in his own troubles.

42Ülâike hümü-lkeferatü-lfecerah.
English Translation
38Some faces on that day will gleam, growing brighter and brighter,
39cheerful and merry with joy.
40And some faces on that day will be covered entirely in dust and dirt,
41growing darker and darker.
42Those whose faces darken will be these disbelievers who cover up the truths.
