English Translation
21Or do they have certain authorities who have made them adopt, as religious rules, beliefs and practices that Allah has not approved in religion? Had it not been for your Lord's earlier ruling concerning the postponement of punishment for a set time, their affair would long since have been settled. Without any doubt, there is a painful punishment for the wrongdoers who lay down religious rules besides Allah.
