9The believers who made Medina their home before the emigrants, who engraved faith in their hearts and love the believers who emigrated to them, feel no envy in their hearts over the spoils given to the emigrants; they even prefer them over themselves, though they themselves be in need. Those who purify their souls of greed and stinginess, it is they who will attain salvation and reach what they hope for.
