Verses 1–5

When We split open again and spread out the sky that We rolled up like a book; when We scatter the stars and adorn the sky with them; when We bring forth the seas anew and make them swell; when We overturn the graves, raise those in them, and begin the Day of Reckoning:

On That Day every person will be shown plainly the stance he took toward the system of life to which he was invited through prophets and Books.

Verses 6–12

O you who persist in refusing to accept the system of life that is Allah’s call! When Allah has endowed you with so many blessings and made known to you what is right, what keeps you from His call? With the truth standing plain before you, instead of giving thanks to your Lord you are ungrateful, turn away from His call, and deny the Day of the Hereafter as well. Yet is it not Allah who created you, set the organs of your body in their proper places, and gave you your form?

Know well that with you there are noble angels on duty, keeping a record of what you do and of what you fail to do when you should have done it.

Verses 17–19

Do you know what a dreadful day the Day of Reckoning will be for those who have deserved Hell? No, for the terror of That Day is far beyond human comprehension.

On That Day no one will be able to give anyone the slightest help. On That Day, as ever, judgment and sovereignty belong to Allah.
