Surah Al-Ma'un: Thematic English Translation (Mustafa Çevik)

When Allah has created people, endowed them with so many blessings, and then invited them to live in keeping with the reason for their creation (by the religion), have you seen the ungrateful man who rejects His call, calls it a lie, and takes as his god his own self or beings created like himself?

These people, who associate partners with Allah and disbelieve, and who ignore Allah’s rights over His servants, also trample on people’s rights: they push orphans away roughly, treat them unjustly, do not feed the poor, and do not encourage others to look after orphans and the poor.

Woe to those who see all this and live alongside them, yet, without trying to stop these wrongdoers, worship in a way cut off from its purpose! Their worship is nothing but a means of deceiving themselves and others, and mere show. Such people also hinder every kind of good.
