Surah Al-Qadr: Thematic English Translation (Mustafa Çevik)

We sent down this Quran, which gave worth and honor to the night on which it was sent down, on a night whose worth must be appreciated. How will you know the importance of this night, on which Allah’s call inviting people to follow the reason for their creation began anew, without putting that system of life into practice?!

The Night of Qadr, on which the Quran began to be sent down, is better than a thousand months that contain no Night of Qadr. For on that night, through what was being made known, right and wrong began to be distinguished from each other, and the human being began to be granted the knowledge of the truth, which he could never attain by his own effort even if he strove for a thousand months (a lifetime).

From that night on, the angels, by Allah’s permission and for every matter, continue to bring down to the Prophet the verses that are Allah’s revelation, until darkness turns into light. By putting them into practice in life, people attain peace and happiness in this world and the Hereafter.
